A new chapter in our journey has begun! SpaceLocker is proud to announce that our very first mission, Hitchhiker 1, has successfully reached orbit. Hosted by D-Orbit and launched aboard a SpaceX flight, this milestone represents not only a breakthrough for our company but also a giant leap toward democratizing access to space.
What is Hitchhiker 1?
Hitchhiker 1 is the inaugural mission of SpaceLocker, showcasing our vision of shared satellite infrastructure and hosted payload services. This mission demonstrates our ability to provide an affordable and efficient platform for customers to test, validate, and operate their technologies in orbit without the complexity of developing a dedicated satellite.
Designed and developed in under 3 months, Hitchhiker 1 enables 3 pioneering companies to test their innovative technologies in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), emphasizing rapid deployment and reduced barriers to entry.
This mission is hosted onboard ION, a vehicle by D-Orbit, a leader in in-space logistics, launched by SpaceX, and their reliable Falcon 9 – a typical industrial scheme for SpaceLocker missions picturing well the ecosystem builder role of the company.
